Attorney General Aaron Ford

February 1, 2025 by Lyle E Brennan

In the ever-evolving debate over immigration, Nevada’s Attorney General Aaron Ford has positioned himself on the far-left fringe, embracing policies that prioritize political expediency over the safety and well-being of Nevadans.

Ford’s track record is not new. In 2017, as a state senator, he co-sponsored legislation that would have effectively turned Nevada into a sanctuary state. The proposal was met with swift and bipartisan backlash, as both Republicans and Democrats recognized the inherent risks of shielding violent criminals from accountability. Although the bill was ultimately abandoned, the intention behind it revealed Ford’s willingness to compromise public safety in favor of ideological purity.

Fast forward to today, and it appears Ford’s radical views remain unchanged even while he tries to distance himself from his own actions. In an interview with the Review-Journal, Ford said he never classified Nevada as a “sanctuary state” despite his proposed legislation in the state Senate. His long-time promotion of resources aimed at helping undocumented immigrants avoid contact with law enforcement is not only reckless, but also indicative of a broader strategy to undermine the rule of law. This approach effectively signals to those who break immigration laws that Nevada will not only tolerate their actions but actively shield them from the consequences.

Ford’s radical stance has not gone unnoticed, even by members of his own party. Recently, Nevada’s congressional Democrats—Susie Lee, Steven Horsford and Dina Titus—voted in favor of federal legislation designed to streamline the deportation of undocumented immigrants arrested for theft. Their support for the measure highlights the growing chasm between Ford and mainstream Democrats, who increasingly recognize the need for balanced immigration policies that protect citizens and uphold the rule of law.

The reality is, Ford’s policies are out of step with the priorities of everyday Nevadans. Residents of this great state understand that immigration, while a complex issue, must be addressed in a way that respects both our nation’s laws and the safety of its citizens. Ford’s actions, however, send the opposite message: that political allegiance to the radical left takes precedence over the concerns of hardworking families who want safe neighborhoods and a government that enforces the law impartially.

Nevada deserves leaders who are willing to take a principled stand, even when it means confronting the more radical elements within their political base. We elect our leaders to represent the will of the people. In that respect, Ford has failed.

Now is the moment for conservatives, moderates and principled Democrats alike to unite in opposition to Ford’s dangerous policies. Let your voices be heard by contacting your elected representatives, engaging in local activism and supporting candidates who prioritize the rule of law and public safety. Together, we can ensure that Nevada remains a state where justice and common sense prevail.

Call to Action: The time has come for Nevadans to demand better from their leaders. Aaron Ford’s radical agenda does not reflect the values of our state or the priorities of its people. We must hold him accountable for his actions and make it clear that the safety of our communities is non-negotiable.
