States Make it Easier to Continue Killing Millions

March 1, 2019 by Lyle E Brennan

I have seven grown daughters and am no stranger to women’s rights issues. My wife and I raised our daughters to think for themselves and make decisions based on Judeo-Christian principles. We raised our daughters to be strong and independent. And, I know at least one of my daughters struggled with whether or not to have an abortion. Thankfully she didn’t and has since become an advocate against the practice.

Abortion is a tricky subject for some. On the one hand, you have individuals that believe in the infallible right of a woman to choose what to do with her own body. On the other hand, you have those that believe that abortion is the willful murdering of children. If you’ve read any of my commentaries, it should come as no surprise that I fall in the latter category.

Arguments are made ad nauseam that abortion is simply a medical procedure that a woman has every right to choose. If you believe that abortion is a simple medical procedure then of course a person has the right to choose what to do with their own body. However, no one has the right to choose what to do with someone else’s body and I believe abortion is sentencing another person to death.

I have the firmly held conviction that life starts at conception. From the very beginning of any pregnancy, we’re talking about a human child. I believe this to be true with all of my heart. So, in our current reality, we’re literally murdering millions of children. How is that justifiable, ever? How can we ignore that? How can we shout about a woman’s right to choose when the alternative is murdering babies?

Recently, out of fear that Roe v. Wade will be scaled back or repealed, states have begun passing laws that allow abortions to be performed much later in a pregnancy. One such example is New York where the Reproductive Health Act was recently passed which allows abortions to be performed right up until birth in certain cases. Virginia also had a law recently introduced for late term abortions. That law was set aside in committee but may be reintroduced at a later time.

In Nevada, Senate Bill (SB) 179 was introduced last month that would repeal parental notification for underage abortions. The bill also looks to change certain requirements to obtain an abortion and would repeal laws that criminalize abortions not performed as legally prescribed, among other changes. So, essentially we’re going to make it even easier to kill children. And, if a child wants to kill a baby, we won’t tattle to their parents. That same child can’t have an aspirin in school without parental permission, by the way.

Call to Action: It’s absolutely true that the most dangerous place in America is inside a mother’s womb. According to the Centers for Disease Control, from 1970 to 2015, nearly 46 million children have been killed through abortion. To put that in perspective, in case you need it, 17 million people were killed during the Holocaust. This nation needs to stop murdering its children. Oppose SB 179 and speak to your elected officials about repealing abortion. Finally, reach out to and support the Women’s Resource Center of Southern Nevada. They save lives daily through their efforts with women and unborn children.
