When Right is Wrong & Wrong is Right

October 1, 2025 by Lyle E Brennan

Isaiah 5:20 says: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness…” and putting this historical and Biblical warning into contemporary words, Ronald Regan said “We must never remain silent in the face of bigotry. We must condemn those who seek to divide us. In all quarters and at all times, we must teach tolerance and denounce racism, antisemitism and all ethnic or religious bigotry wherever they exist as unacceptable evils. We have no place for haters in America — none, whatsoever.”

Whether you are on the right or the left, if ever there was a time in American history when these warnings feels like a headline, it’s now. What was once considered righteous is now ridiculed. What was once clearly immoral seems to be celebrated, often protected by law and even funded by taxpayers. “When right is wrong and wrong is right” isn’t just a prophetic phrase… it’s the condition of our cultural, political, and legal climate.

We are living through a profound inversion of truth. In Nevada… a state once rooted in rugged independence and moral clarity… today’s policies tell a different story. Public libraries have hosted drag queen story events for children, sparking backlash from concerned parents. A Clark County student was assigned a sexually explicit monologue, and the parent was muted at a school board meeting when raising concerns. Meanwhile, conflicting policies on homelessness leave communities navigating rising vagrancy. With soaring public safety costs and unchecked benefits, basic services suffer. Those who speak up… especially parents and people of faith… are often silenced, dismissed, or labeled as extreme. Those in control have no accountability and run amuck.

Nationally, it’s no better. We flip from one extreme to another. We’ve watched our justice system weaponized, not blindfolded. Criminals have been let loose under “bail reform,” while pro-life protestors and parents speaking at school board meetings have been monitored like enemies of the state. The last President’s White House flew the pride flag front and center while the American flag… once a symbol of sacrifice and unity… was treated as optional décor.

So how did we get here? The cultural decline didn’t happen overnight. For decades, the foundations laid by the Judeo-Christian ethic—truth, accountability, the sanctity of life, family and religious liberty—have been chipped away by secularism, moral relativism and political cowardice. Courts that once protected religious liberty now silence prayer. Politicians that once stood for families now bow to activist mobs. Pastors that once preached boldly now pander to the crowd or hide behind soft sermons.

Even conservatives… those who know better… have often failed to speak up. We’ve allowed fear of being called “intolerant” or “extreme” or worse to neuter our convictions. We’ve traded truth for peace and clarity for comfort. And while we hesitated, a new religion of “woke” ideology took the hill and is trying to dig-in.

But the good news is this: history has also shown us that when committed people take a stand, mountains move. The abolition of slavery, the Civil Rights Movement and even the founding of this country were led by those willing to confront the lies of their day with unshakeable truth.

So where do we go from here? We stop waiting! Parents must reclaim their God-given role. Churches must speak truth without fear. Politicians who serve party over principle must be challenged and replaced. We need bold, young leaders like the late Charlie Kirk to rise… those grounded in Judeo-Christian truth… to run for school boards, councils and legislatures. This battle isn’t won by force but by conviction, courage and civil debate. It’s time to live what we say we believe… treating others with love, but honoring God above all.

Call to Action: Let us return to the truth that right is still right – even when it’s unpopular – and wrong is still wrong – even when it’s applauded. Stand firm. Speak boldly. Vote righteously. And never trade eternal truth for temporary comfort. The soul of our state, and our nation, depends on it.
